⬇️ How to get motivated to jump back into a homeschool routine after the holidays ⬇️ We are very grateful for the flexibility that Abeka Homeschool gives us, so we can take time to travel and enjoy the holiday season without being tied to a traditional schedule. However, taking extended breaks sometimes makes it hard to get back into a routine again at home. Here are some tips that have helped us get motivated to jump back in! *Organize & Restock: There’s nothing like a fresh start with the new year! I organized and cleaned the homeschool storage space, and refreshed our supplies. My kids get very excited about picking out new pens and markers! *Set Expectations: At the beginning of each week, we go over a general layout of what's happening in each the classes, like projects or tests. This helps let my kids understand what to expect. *Make Necessary Changes: Learn what has been helpful and what hasn't been working for their learning success. My daughter felt that her child sized desk was too small, so we swapped it out for a larger one and comfy chair. *Don’t Stop: One way to not lose your routine rhythm during breaks is to not stop learning. Even when we travel or have some time off of school, we set aside time each day for reading and supplemental learning activities. *Schedule FUN: Aside from extracurricular activities, I like to plan weekly or bi-weekly fun! Whether it's a family movie night, a playdate at a park or a little trip away, having something to look forward to at the end of the school week helps us stay motivated to work hard.
