Guppy has been spending the past few days at Blue Pearl in Spring. We had hoped that his injuries could be fixed at one of the economical ortho vets but his injuries were just too complicated. To give Guppy the best chances of a long healthy life we are having all his orthopedic surgeries done at Blue Pearl. Dr. Ficklin has been taking great care of Guppy and said that once the surgeries are healed that Guppy will be a happy guy without pain. There are several injuries that Guppy has. He has a femur fracture, ilium fracture, sacral plexus (I think that’s what it was) fracture, and what they believed to be a prepubic tendon rupture. His repairs are being performed in two separate surgeries to give his body a day in between to rest. With any medical case like this we ask the vets their honest opinion….”would you save this dog and is it cruel to put Guppy through these surgeries?”. Every single vet that has handled his case (which is over 4 vets now) has said ABSOLUTELY that his issues are 100% fixable and he can live a long happy life free of pain. That Guppy is alert, active and interested in food. And most importantly he shows them daily that he can fight through this. Many people have criticized spending this amount of money on ONE dog. And we understand that argument. But the funds being used to save Guppy were donated SPECIFICALLY to Guppy. Helping Guppy is not stopping us from helping other dogs and it’s not taking away from our general funds. Guppy’s funding is coming 100% from an army of people who believe that his life is worth saving. We are grateful to have received so much support. Without our generous donors we would never be able to step up for these major medical cases. We are hoping to raise an additional $5,000 to cover the expense of his final orthopedic surgeries tomorrow. Paypal & Zelle LolasLuckyDay@gmail.com Venmo @lolasluckyday
