I was in shock. Now I’m the first person to say that women should be able to advocate for themselves and their babies, how you choose to feed them, how you choose for them to sleep, as long as the babies are fed, safe, happy and loved that’s all that matters. But this isn’t the first experience I’ve had with someone where they’ve belittled my breastfeeding journey or made me feel as though it was “abnormal” to even go past 6 months. I’m grateful and lucky that I’m confident in my parenting choices but other people aren’t and we look to medical professionals for guidance not to be made to feel like what you’re doing is wrong when it is far from it. I don’t think everyone should breastfeed, I’m not pushing that on anyone so I really hope this doesn’t feel like it. Perhaps if women had more support and less judgement, it would make motherhood just that bit easier to navigate. ❤️
