A moment I'll never forget. My then-girlfriend (now wife) and I drove from LA to SF to hear my song “If You Love Her” being played for the first time on US radio. A year and a half earlier, I had been homeless, nursing a broken heart, all while living between the back of a rental car and a friend’s couch. It was one of the most difficult times I had gone through. It’s really special to see this video pop up because it reminds me of how incredible life can be and how everything can change in an instant. You really never know what life is going to throw at you. I remember at that time being so scared that I would never make it at anything, let alone in the music industry. I feel like I’ve always been overlooked or seen as a write-off, or that people thought I would never amount to anything special. I’ve been discarded more times than I can count, and it’s something that I’ve really struggled with and continue to struggle with in life. So to be sitting in a car in San Francisco, listening to my song play to an entire country… well, it was overwhelming, to say the least. I had no clue what would happen after that. Never in a million years could I have imagined that that song would later climb the US and Canadian radio charts and then go platinum in the United States and Canada. Honestly, I’m still trying to process it all. I guess I’m writing this because there might be someone out there on the verge of giving up, and maybe this encourages that very person to keep going. Thanks to everyone who’s been here for the ride! It means more than you will ever know! #I#IfYouLoveHerNeverGiveUp #onthisday
