🥕Tornillitos de Carne recipe here👇🏽 Ingredients to make the picadillo: -2 tbsp of oil (olive, avocado, or ghee are all fine) -1/4 cup of Sofrito -16 oz of ground protein of your choice -1tbsp Kosher salt -About a tsp each of Adobo, Sazon, and Oregano. -5 oz of Tomato Sauce -3 multi colored mini bell peppers, chopped -Pitted Green Olives to taste -Chopped Cilantro to taste and for pop of color To make the pastry shells in shape of a tornillito: -Preheat oven at 400° -Get the puff pastry sheets in the freezer section of your grocery store and let thaw -Make the egg wash using two eggs and some aceite de achiote or red food coloring (I stay away from red and yellow food dyes since my kids and I have ADHD and it makes our symptoms worse when we consume food with these dyes) You are going to eyeball the amount of aceite de achiote. I’d recommend dropping a splash, mixing, testing the color, and keep adding little by little until you reach the hue seen on the video -On a flour dusted clean counter surface lay out your puff pastry sheets, roll it out to make it even and not so thick, and taking a pizza cutter, cut about 1 inch wide strips. Stretch them as shown in the video and wrap the molding cones. -Brush the lined pastry cone with the egg wash and place on parchment lined cookie sheet -Bake for 15-18 min then let it cool off for 10 min before taking them out of the mold. -Stuff it with the picadillo. Decorate with the cilantro or parsley stems as shown. Enjoy! #eastertreat #picadillo #puffpastrytreat #pastelitosdecarne
