It wasn’t until the early 20th century that life insurance companies began to use it to charge higher premiums to bigger people. 💰💵 BMI is comprised of a weight-to-height ratio, which has been used as a metric of (inaccurate) health. Unfortunately, this metric doesn't consider any other influences, such as bone density, body composition, muscle mass, body fat percentage, sex and racial differences, and other environmental and biological influences. Two people with the same BMI could have very different body compositions and health statuses! Walk around the cute downtown area and you’ll run into so many unique spots. 2. Our favorite place to eat are Heartwood (breakfast and lunch) Heartwood Annex (dinner) and Communal cafe. They have many plant-based options and serve unique dishes that you wouldn’t normally get anywhere else. 3. SO close to the snow line but usually not IN the snow. We love to stay here for our annual snow trip knowing that we won’t even get snowed in. Just drive about 10 minutes north and you’ll start seeing snow. Our favorite snow park is called Nyack Snow Park! It is dog-friendly, and super fun to play in and only about a 20 minute drive from Nevada City. 4. Many trails to walk with scenic views. You can’t miss them because they’re everywhere! Try hiking the south Yuba trail! 5. Streams, rivers and cute bridges can be found nearby. Just take your car and drive up highway 49. The best bridge to get photos of is the 49 crossing bridge at the south Yuba River 💛 6. Head to grass valley for a bigger town feel and more things to do!
