I have some weird habits with food.. And in an era where making people feel guilty about what they consume is what seems to be getting the most reactions on socials I think it’s important to be completely transparent with what’s actually attainable. These probably aren’t ideal but do you know what I’ve done a lot of work to get to this point and trying to be any better with my diet isn’t worth the tiny tiny upside I might feel for the effort I’d have to put in 🤝
01:46I’m absolutely here for the rise in people going out running and promoting zone 2 cardio. But when there’s so much info out there beginners often feel conflicted in what they should be doing. So here’s my take that I give to clients 🏃🏻♀️
01:28Do you actually need to work on getting a summer body? Or is it an overall toxic marketing trend the fitness industry uses to sell restrictive programmes? I think we all know the answer. I personally feel like the fitness industry is going backwards again - literally everyone is so focused on fat loss again and it being the soul way to market. You don’t need to get summer body ready. Losing a load of weight in the next few weeks will do nothing for your confidence on holiday, in fact you’ll probably be in a worse head space when you come out the other end. Your body is to be looked after all year round.. you don’t have a winter body or a summer body. It’s just a body 🤝
01:57The effects of editing your pictures has on the industry. Now I don’t need a big caption here cause the video has enough. However the very few call out videos I done back in the day felt extremely morally wrong and I regret every single one of them. I had a 2 minute one made about me a few months ago and it was a really nasty feeling to have - and sometimes it’s just an opinion someone has of you who is to say they’re right. Some people are definitely calling out things I agree with. Just call out culture is it’s own vicious circle of chasing likes and fame. Is there a right way? I don’t know. I’ve made plenty of mistakes but I think doing stuff that feels right as much as possible is the way to go. And I do my best to make anybody see that - and I myself will get it wrong a good few more times in my career. But editing pictures in my opinion no matter how you feel is net negative to everyone involved - including the person doing it ✌🏻
04:12My top 5 biggest coaching and business (tbh life mistakes) in my first 1-2 years of coaching 👇🏻 1. Moving to london 2. Not going in person straight away because I moved to London 3. Believing coaches were better than me because they were posting lots of transformations 4. Talking about fat loss all the time instead of teaching people how to get stronger 5. Not digging in deeper into why people don’t believe in themselves to understand why Random video on a random day. But I was just feeling like I’ve had a very eventful last 3 years where I’ve completely changed as a person from some of the lessons I’ve learned. And I’ve done stuff in a very unconventional but ethical way and it pays off down the line. I might not be making 200k a year but I can happily say I enjoy 90% of my life and that’s absolutely plenty for me.
04:50I think it’s important to realise does a video get lots of views because it’s a good idea. Or does it get loads of views because people take the wrong message from it - or because people are hearing something they want to hear. If I made a video tomorrow saying nobody who is overweight can lose weight because their genetics are different it would probably get hundreds of thousands of views. But I would be wrong and I would also do more harm than good. Calorie banking isn’t a really harmful message. I just don’t think you need it. You already probably struggle with your week days and weekends being completely different. It can be used - I’ve had clients do it. But over all in the long term probably better to just accept if you have plans at the weekend you might go over and be more conservative with how often you choose to do that. As well as upping your calories through the week
02:25When I filmed this video - I even went to edit it and think wow those actually look worse than I thought. The lighting is probably not favourable. I’m a good few kg heavier than I want to be - which will be different in 2-3 months time. But truthfully I can post this still with very little cares in the world. When this is the insecurity that would make me do anything to stay off school when we had swimming lessons in p.e. The reason I would pull my shirt out all the time when I was sitting down. I hold more fat around my chest than most people - I can get lean and it can look better but often times how lean I need to get isn’t a fun process. I’ve benched 100kg and built muscle around those areas. And don’t get me wrong it’s way better - but I will always be able to point out how it’s slightly different to others. But who cares - I know nobody else does so why should I and I barely do. That’s through years of lifting and years of not following fitness people and living in the real world. Everyone has them - you would probably take your own insecurities over other people who are constantly moving their insecurity goal posts 🫡
01:46Sexualised transformation pictures in gyms.. let’s talk about it. Why is nobody else talking about it? Why are these a thing? I’ve seen these happen for quite a few years now and they get more and more bizarre every year. I’m just gonna start calling out behaviour all the time but not specific people or get involved in call out culture cause I think it’s toxic. But I do think people are getting absolutely ruined from a relationship with food and exercise stand point. Because they are falling for the ridiculous marketing of pts following the advice of purely insecure money hungry business mentors. Some of the pictures I see people post are absolutely wild 😶🌫️
